Root Fm a Local Media House Ordered Close by the Liberian Government Hundreds of Liberians woke up on Thursday morning to the closure of a local FM radio station Root Fm in Monrovia

A communication address to Liberia’s Minister of Justice Cllr. Musa Dean making rounds on social media suggest the Root Fm closure is instituted as the result of a Liberia Telecommunication Authority order

The communication alleged that Root FM and other local media agencies operating in the country are operating against the mandate of the Telecommunication Authority .

Riot police officers were seen at the Root Fm facilities preventing hundreds of citizens who have gone there either to prevent the closure of the Root Fm or to celebrate the government action

The Press Union of Liberia recently called for the closure of two local radio stations citing ethical breach. The PUL President describe as unprofessional and unacceptable for media actors to be in the constant habit of insulting national officials in the government and opposition

It is not however clear if the Government will restore Root FM\

,8permit to operate if the station management conform to the telecommunication authority mandate.
