Game Boy Color Rechargeable Battery Mod Showcase!

The Game Boy Color console in grape purple is great because I have installed BennVenn’s Freckle Shack backlit LCD in September and not only the LCD looks beautiful on me, the LCD can be used in pure direct sunlight!

One major downside to the Game Boy Color is that it runs on two AA batteries, this is because you have to keep on replacing AA batteries once they run out and a set of AA batteries can cost money to spend! There is a solution... I HAVE INSTALLED A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY MOD IN MY GBC WHICH NOT ONLY THIS GBC HAS A BACKLIT LCD MOD, BUT ALSO A RECHARGEABLE PERMANENT BATTERY SO ONCE THE BATTERY DIES, YOU’RE ABLE TO CHARGE IT! The battery pack is a 2000mAh and I used a type C USB charging board for this mod.

I purchased my 2000mAh battery and type C USB charging board from BoxyPixel, the company is known for their aluminum shells for the GBC, GBA, and Freeplay CM3!

Unfortunately, when I was fitting the battery pack which I was trimming the battery area on the back shell, I ended up removing the two screw posts and the back shell and battery cover both wouldn’t sit flush. Also, on the front shell, there is a little lavender for this is because when I put my two tri-wing screws on the motherboard, it punctured through. I might want to check out BoxyPixel’s aluminum shell made for the Game Boy Color, also the battery holder and Freckle Shack LCD adapter both made for the GBC aluminum shell.
