There are various ideas over the same:
*Make it plain and serve with sweet coconut milk.
*Make it savory by topping with spring onion and serve with coconut chutney.
*Sprinkle a dash of naatu sakkarai/ brown sugar over for sweet appams.
*Top with sugar+ coconut mixture and cook covered for mini sweet appams.
Raw rice - 1 & 1/2 cup
Idli rice - 1 & 1/2 cup (if idli rice not available, use raw rice itself. Ponni or sona masoori works)
Urad dal/ vellai ulundhu whole - 1/8 cup
Fenugreek seeds/ vendhayam - 1 tbsp
Salt - As needed
Either Cooked rice or Poha/ aval - 1/4 cup
Cooking soda - 1 generous pinch
