Food allergies have long been taken quite lightly by many of us. Seeing others’ allergies as an excuse for not liking a kind of food is a common thing in our society. However, allergies or their complications can sometimes be really serious, or might even result in deaths.
1.Nut Allergy, Habiba Chisti - 9 years old
Habica Chisti had been having a bad reaction to nuts was known by herself and all of her close acquaintances. Also, her dad always kept an eye on her condition when it came to food so she had never experienced any serious conditions before. Later at 9 pm, Habiba was said to experience anaphylactic shock . She was transported immediately to the nearest hospital near Marbella. At first, she successfully got over the shock. At midnight on the same day, she suffered from a cardiorespiratory. An ambulance was called to rush the girl to Materno Infantil Hospital but it was too late.
2.Egg Allergy, Isabel Marrero - 9 years old
Isabel Marrero, also 9 years old when the girl and her family had to face with the tragic loss. Isabel’s parents controlled strictly what she took in all the time knowing that she’s allergic to eggs. However, Isabel really loved chocolate-chip cookies. And this time, her mom, Helen Marrero, also bought her a pack from Cadbury for her as usual. However, Helen chose the wrong type which had allergen. After eating a cookie, Isabel started to cough and choke. Paramedics came to attempt on reviving Isabel but the poor girl couldn’t get over her fate.
3.Shellfish Allergy & Complication, Christopher Trimper - 42 years old
While participating in a gathering after the Downtown Association Golf Tournament, Christopher Trimper had experienced a shellfish allergy. The allergy then in no time grew into a complication, which was the main cause for his death. Although he was delivered to the hospital right after showing signs of allergy, the medics couldn’t save him after all.
4.Food Allergy, Shahida Shahid, 18 years old
Shahida Shahid is an 18-year-old girl who was eating out with her friends at a famous local restaurant. She had no suspicion about the chicken dish delivered later and just enjoyed the food with her mates. After that, Shashida showed food allergy symptoms. She used epipen and inhaler to ease the symptoms. Sadly this time these measures couldn’t save her from a serious allergy attack. She shortly collapsed after experiencing a cardiovascular attack. Three days later, Shashida gave in and passed away regardless of the food allergy treatment made by the medics.
