MUMBAI TIMES: Punjab and Maharashtra (PMC) Bank account holders on Tuesday staged a dharna outside the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) office at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.
Protestors said the RBI officials in Mumbai had given certain assurances to the affected customers on October 29.
They said assurance was given by the central bank that a representative among the customers will be appraised on a regular basis on developments taking place.
However, protestors alleged that even a week later the RBI did not "abide" by the assurances and added they have been left totally in the dark.
"We don't even know if the government is doing anything. Here in the state, all they are interested in is government formation. Leaders don't understand we don't have money to run our households. We voted for them but now they have turned their backs on us, said an angry protestor," said one of the protestors.
PMC Bank customers resorted to sloganeering and many were also seen beating 'thalis' or plates outside the RBI main gate.
"Now, we have decided that we won't go for meeting RBI officials. It is they, who will have to come, meet us and give us information. Else these protests will only intensify," Video and Report by Shubham Pandey
