The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh through an official notification, has introduced several changes in PGIMER 2020. The authority will conduct PGIMER 2020 in the computer-based mode for the first time on November 30, 2019. The application form of PGIMER 2020 has been released by December 6. For all categories, the application fee has been increased to Rs 1500 whereas the reserved category candidates will have to pay Rs 1200. The mode of payment has been changed to Debit/Credit card or internet banking. For the January session, the authority has provided a list of 13 test cities which a candidate can choose while filling the application form of PGIMER 2020. Earlier the exam was conducted only in Chandigarh.
The admission to PGIMER is done through two sessions - January and July. The authority, Through PGIMER 2020, admission to around 207 seats will be offered across 20 departments in the disciplines of Master of Surgery (MS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD). The first round of PGIMER 2020 counselling will be conducted on December 20, 2019. The second round of counselling is scheduled to be conducted on January 10, 2020. Third of counselling of PGIMER 2020 will be conducted on January 18, 2020. Subsequently, the fourth round of counselling of PGIMER 2020 will be conducted on January 30, 2020.
The process of admission to PGIMER 2020 is based on merit and according to the ranks obtained by the candidates in the entrance examination. As PGIMER is recognized as one of the distinguished medical institutions of India, the MD and MS programmes of PGIMER Chandigarh follows a residency-cum-training covered in a span of three years. The process of admission through PGIMER 2020 will be strictly according to the merit and rank secured by the candidates in the entrance examination.
