How To Start A Blog: Niche Ideas To Try [Fit For A Boss]

Starting a blog and transforming it into a lucrative business (that makes money online) is not easy. It takes a lot of time, effort and commitment.

It is not a get rich scheme: a get up today, start a blog and start making hundreds tomorrow, or if you’re less ambitious, in the next few weeks, sort of thing. Like any business, it involves planning, practice, marketing strategy, timing and a lot of trial and error.

Those words are not meant to scare you off. In fact, if you’re here it probably means that you have heard all of that before, but you still insist on treading through. If that’s the case, then good going, Champ! If not, then there is never a “best” time to learn.

I must tell you this, though, there are a lot of bases that you’ll need to cover in the foundation stages of your blogging business. These range from niche selection, target audience, hosting, theme, training, domain name selection, and registration, SEO, monetization strategies (ads, affiliate programs, ebooks/e-products, etc) and so on and so forth.

You saw me mention niche selection above. One of the biggest decisions you will have to make when getting into blogging is to choose your niche.


A niche is a specialized segment of a market: denoting or relating to products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population.



In other words, it is the topic, product or service you are planning to sell or promote to a particular set of people, or create other forms of content about, on your blog.



This simple 5-letter word is something that a lot of bloggers or wannabe bloggers struggle with. To some, it is the scariest aspect of starting an online business. But it shouldn’t be. For me, thinking of all the possibilities should be nothing short of exciting!

I believe the reason many find this so threatening, is because they are looking at niche selection like a job. Your online business should be fun and it can be fun. The more you’re interested in something the easier it gets and the less “scary” you tend to see it.


Here’s the truth: You can earn money online from absolutely every single niche because there are billions of people out there searching for information, for solutions, and spending billions of dollars on products/services every day. While some may be hard to get a break-in, the good news is that there are some niches that can be considered easier than others to manage, if you are really looking to make money online.
