Empress of the Seas: Viking Crown Lounge Tour

Empress of the Seas: Viking Crown Lounge Tour The signature feature of a Royal Caribbean ship is the Viking Crown Lounge. Identifiable from a distance this feature designed to enable expansive views in all directions acts as a lounge. With the Empress of the Seas originally not designed to be a part of the Royal Caribbean fleet the venue had to be added to the design later. As a result compared to others built around the same time the Viking Crown Lounge appears better integrated into the standard superstructure of the vessel rather than standing out. With a lounge on the first floor featuring a dance floor, plenty of seating, and a bar the Viking Crown Lounge on the Empress of the Seas has the unique distinction of being the only one with two levels. Accessible by a spiral staircase the Vitality at Sea Fitness Center occupies the second floor overlooking the dance floor.

Added after launch a Rock Climbing Wall was built onto the aft of the Viking Crown Lounge. This added one of the few sports venues to the ship, but at the same time reduced the views from within the lounge.
