Ray McGregor - Production Workshop at Sea FM - Gold Coast, 1992

Sometime during 1992.... or maybe it was '93, the ABA and Austereo organised a weekend production workshop for regional producers at Sea FM on the Gold Coast hosted by Steve Hunt. Ray McGregor was there for the second day and he and Steve took us through a voice over workshop.

Being the audio geek that I was and working at my first gig in radio at 4SB in Kingaroy at the time, I was never able to listen to any of the FM's in Brisbane, and I wanted to make sure I captured some of the weekend highlights on my small but concealed cassette recorder.

I have to say that even though it was only 2 short days, it was this workshop that inspired me immensely and forced me to up my game enough to score a gig at 4KQ a year later as creative writer initially, then imaging producer, and the world famous original Virgin Radio in London 4 years after that. (talk about a massive culture shock!!)

Sadly though, I never had an opportunity to produce anything with the great man.

I've restored the audio so that it's all at least quite audible.
