Listen as attorney Patrick Hartwig explains why Social Security may still deny your claim for disability benefits even if you can’t do your old job.
Social Security treats people who are under 50 differently than they do people who are 50 years of age or older.
If you are under 50, it is not enough for you to prove that you can’t do the job you have done for your whole life. You need to prove that you can’t do any full-time work anywhere in the United States.
Once you turn 50, you need to show that you cannot do your old job and that you can’t use the skills from that job in a less demanding job. That is enough to qualify for disability benefits for those people who are 50 or older.
Again, the larger challenge is for someone under 50 to prove they can’t do full-time work anywhere in the country. Watch the video to learn more.
