Adi Shankaracharya established Sharada Peetham at Sringeri where a Snake protected a Frog (Sanskrit) Short Messages from Sringeri Jagadgurus:

Adi Shankaracharya established Sharada Peetham at Sringeri where a Snake protected a Frog (Sanskrit):

Shankaracharya travelled the entire country, dispelled anti Vedic schools, and expounded Vedanta to everyone. As Shankaracharya travelled, He reached Sringeri, and saw natural enemies (frog and snake) co-existing peacefully. Feeling that this was the appropriate place for establishing the Sharada Peetham, He established the Dakshinamnaya Sharada Peetham at Sringeri, and prayed to Goddess Sharada to be ever present here, and appointed His eldest and wisest disciple, Sureshwara, to the Spiritual throne.
