I am an aspirational book buyer. It means that I buy the books that I want to like more often than the books that I actually like. This is a good thing to a point, as long as I keep one thing in mind: buying a book does not discharge my obligation to read the book. Often, in our quests to improve ourselves, we feel good when we buy a book, feeling like we're taking a step in the right direction.
It is, but it's just a single step in a marathon! Are there any books you have that you once enthusiastically bought in hopes of changing your life? Are they still on your bookshelf? Have you finished them? Why don't you make a step towards finishing the marathon today?
