Mother of Incarnate Word, Not Because of Sin, but Despite it - Jan 01 - Homily - Fr Matthias

Mother of Incarnate Word, Not Because of Sin, but Despite it - Jan 01 - Homily - Fr Matthias Father explains the reason for Creation: from before time God wishes to share His being with others, because He is Love and love desires another. He wishes to share in everything that is ours so that we might share in everything that is His. For this reason, He came into the world, through His chosen cooperator, from whom He took His human nature: Mary, the Mother of God.

Father explains the Franciscan thesis: that sin was not the reason for the Incarnation, and that Jesus would have become incarnate even if man had not sinned, because it was His will from before Creation to establish communion with His creature. From before Creation, He willed Mary who was never touched by sin to be His mother, but because man had sinned, the Incarnation took place in a redemptive mode, and the Mother of God became the Mother of the Redeemer.
