Amir John Haddad - El Amir is one of the top flamenco guitar soloists of the international music scene. He became the first musician to perform the whole (all three movements) concerto on the Greek bouzouki. He is always on the quest to find new musical challenges. He made a special adaptation and here you can enjoy his arrangement for Greek bouzouki of this beautiful Vivaldi Concerto in C Major accompanied by musicians from the Spanish National Orchestra. He was approached by Mar Rodriguez one of the orchestra’s first violinists, who had performed previously in El Amir’s Flamenco Mediterráneo Ensemble, to be the soloists of this piece. The concerto was performed on November 6th 2017 in Madrid, Spain at the National Auditorium of Music. El Amir says: “I was given the opportunity to choose one of my mediterranean instruments to perform this concerto. I inspired myself by listening to Avi Avital and thought the bouzouki would have the perfect sound for it. Since my tuning (not the traditional Greek tuning) is very different form the mandolin I had to adapt the piece and make a special arrangement for bouzouki. I finally felt very comfortable and enjoyed very much interpreting Vivaldi’s music. It was a life changing challenge and an amazing experience for me.”

El Amir dice: “Tuve la oportunidad de elegir uno de mis instrumentos mediterráneos para interpretar este concierto. Me inspire escuchando a Avi Avital y pensé que el buzuki iba a ser la mejor opción por su sonido. Mi afinación del buzuki (no es la tradicional griega) variaba mucho de la de la mandolina y tuve que hacer una adaptación y crear un arreglo especial. Finalmente me sentí muy cómodo y disfrute mucho el poder interpretar la música del maestro Vivaldi. Fue una experiencia y un reto que cambiaron mi vida.”
