Brexit burned $81bn hole in EU budget, leaders try to fill gap European Union leaders are meeting in Brussels to draw up a seven-year budget plan as they try to fill an $81bn deficit left by the United Kingdom's departure from the bloc.
But getting all 27-member states to agree is not proving to be easy as richer and poorer states argue over how large their contributions should be.
