Howard Baer abruptly closes | Real Reasons | Trucking Answers

Howard Baer abruptly closes | Real Reasons | Trucking Answers Howard Baer Trucking closes abruptly leaving approximately 35 drivers without a job. Two years ago Howard Baer reported 180 drivers on their SAFER WEB page. More information can be obtained from that page and from the current owner, Greg Baer. You will note in the article below that he bemoans the lawyers in the industry and regulations except the out of service rate and the driver out of service rate at Howard Baer is much, much worse than the national average and even way worse than companies we all love to not like such as Swift Transportation and CR England. If you cannot even keep up with the standards that these companies set perhaps you should go out of business. Greg Baer also said he lost his best drivers when the ELD mandate came out. WRONG. You lost drivers unable to adapt to new things. You lost drivers willing to run illegal, over 14 hours or past their driving limits. There can be no other reason to be against the ELD mandate as it did not change the law. When you drive what would otherwise require 2 drivers, you are cutting your own pay. Good riddance to those unwilling to change with the times. I would like an 18 speed, too, but I drive an auto shift truck. No problem.
