JTWC issues Cyclone Formation Alert.  Tropical Low likely to intensify quickly  February 5 The Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre Perth WA has issued a Cyclone Watch for the following areas: Wallal to Onslow including Port Hedland, Karratha, Dampier and Onslow.

Cancelled zones: None.

Details of Tropical Low at 2:00 pm AWST:
Intensity: tropical low, sustained winds near the centre of 35 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 85 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 45 kilometres of 16.5 degrees South, 123.2 degrees East , 100 kilometres north northwest of Derby and 190 kilometres north northeast of Broome .
Movement: west at 14 kilometres per hour .

The low is forecast to move to the west off the northwest Kimberley coast tonight and develop into a tropical cyclone on Thursday. During Friday, the cyclone is forecast to turn towards the Pilbara coast and intensify before reaching the coast on Saturday.


Hazards:
Gales are forecast to develop along the Pilbara coast between Wallal Downs and Dampier including Port Hedland during Friday, possibly extending west to Onslow overnight Friday. DESTRUCTIVE winds with wind gusts to 150 kilometres per hour may develop overnight Friday night as the cyclone approaches the coast increasing further on Saturday near the cyclone centre.
