One Surgeon’s Mission to Save as Many Kids as Possible About 300,000 babies die from congenital heart disease due to a lack of treatment in the countries where they were born. Pediatric cardiac surgeon Dr. William Novick has made it his mission to save as many of these kids as possible. He shares there are 500 children born annually in Libya with heart disease and a number of those babies will die within the first month and by 1 year old 50% of them will have died, but every one of them deserves the chance to live.
