Peter Roselle: Ransomed Unharmed from the Battle (Psalm 55:18)

Peter Roselle: Ransomed Unharmed from the Battle (Psalm 55:18) The title is taken from Psalm 55:18, “He ransoms me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me.” Use of the word “ransom” puts us in remembrance of the priceless gift of the blood of Christ that was paid as a ransom for our salvation. We meditate together on the amazing scene described by John in Revelation 5 when no one was found worthy to open the scroll until the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the lamb of God, took the scroll from the right hand of His father. We’re told in Revelation 5:8-10 “And when the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures saw the Lamb had taken the scroll, they fell facedown at the feet of the Lamb and worshiped him. Each of them had a harp and golden bowls brimming full of sweet fragrant incense—which are the prayers of God’s holy lovers. And they were all singing this new song of praise to the Lamb: “Because you were slaughtered for us, you are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals. Your blood was the price paid to redeem us. You purchased us to bring us to God out of every tribe, language, people group, and nation. You have chosen us to serve our God and formed us into a kingdom of priests who reign on the earth.”

Isaiah 45
1 “Thus says the Lord to His anointed,
to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held—
to subdue nations before him
and loose the armor of kings,
to open before him the double doors,
so that the gates will not be shut:
2 ‘I will go before you and
make the crooked places straight;
I will break in pieces the gates of bronze
And cut the bars of iron.
3 I will give you the treasures of darkness
and hidden riches of secret places,
that you may know that I, the Lord…
am the God of Israel.

Isaiah 40
3 The voice of one
crying in the wilderness:
“Prepare the way of the Lord;
make straight in the desert
a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted
and every mountain and hill brought low;
the crooked places
shall be made straight
and the rough places smooth;
5 The glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together.”

Revelation 5
1 And I saw in the right hand
of Him who sat on the throne
a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals.
2 Then I saw a strong angel
proclaiming with a loud voice,
“Who is worthy to open the scroll
and to loose its seals?”
3 And no one in heaven or on the earth
or under the earth was able to
open the scroll, or to look at it.
4 So I wept much, because no one was
found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.

Revelation 5
5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep.
Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David,
has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”

Isaiah 11:10 (NASB)
“In that day the nations will resort to the Root of Jesse,
who will stand as a signal for the peoples;
and His resting place shall be glorious.”

Revelation 5
6 …and in the midst of the elders, stood
a Lamb as though it had been slain…
7 Then He came and took the scroll
out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.

Daniel 7
21-22 “[the enemy] was making war
against the saints, and prevailing against them, until the
Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made
in favor of the saints of the Most High,
and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom.
27 Then the kingdom and dominion,
and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven,
shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High.
His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
all dominions shall serve and obey Him.

Philippians 2 (TPT)
6 He existed in the form of God,
yet He gave no thought to seizing
equality with God as His supreme prize.
7 Instead He emptied Himself of His
outward glory by reducing Himself
to the form of a lowly servant.
He became human!
8 He humbled Himself and became
vulnerable, choosing to be revealed
as a man and was obedient.
He was a perfect example,
even in His death—
a criminal’s death by crucifixion!
9 Because of that obedience, God exalted
Him and multiplied His greatness!
He has now been given the
greatest of all names!
10 The authority of the name of Jesus
causes every knee to bow in reverence! Everything
and everyone will one day submit to this name in the
heavenly realm, in the earthly realm,
and in the demonic realm.
11 And every tongue will proclaim in every
language: “Jesus Christ is Lord Yahweh,”
bringing glory and honor to God, His Father!
