'Concerning' spike in NSW coronavirus cases The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in NSW has jumped on Monday to 171.

NSW Health confirmed there has been 37 new cases in the past 24 hours alone.

State Health Minister Brad Hazard told Sky News of the 171 cases, 67 have been imported from overseas and 40 were person-to-person transmission while the cause of the remainder is not yet known.

He said the spike in cases "is concerning".

"It's concerning but it is also reality, if you are looking what's happening across the world you would expect the increase".

"I think the fact that people are coming forward is a positive thing."
