Find My General! The incredible quest for Napoleon's favourite general Gudin lost in Russia

Find My General! The incredible quest for Napoleon's favourite general Gudin lost in Russia It was a 200-year-old mystery. General #Gudin, a friend of #Napoleon, was mortally wounded near Smolensk at the start of France’s doomed 1812 Russia Campaign. Since then no one had ever found his remains. When a Franco-Russian archeology team started digging around Smolensk Fortress, filmed by #RTD during the summer of 2019, success was very uncertain. Archeologists can’t afford to excavate large areas and so have to take a gamble on the precise spot they will investigate.

Some were hoping against hope: Gudin’s descendant Alberic d’Orleans has reasons very close to home for wanting to see his ancestor put to rest on home soil at last. For project initiator, Pierre Malinowski, it's about giving the general his rightful place.
