The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is a safe and effective vaccine that prevents cancer caused by HPV. There are more than 150 types of HPV. The HPV vaccine prevents cancer-causing types of the virus.
Deanna Kepka, PhD, MPH, is a Huntsman Cancer Institute investigator and an associate professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Utah. She is a member of the Cancer Control and Population Sciences research group. She is the Director of the Intermountain West HPV Vaccination Coalition.
