Vinegar Pie?? Don't knock it 'til you try it, y'all! Do you enjoy old-fashioned recipes? This one is over 200 years old! Let's cook and chat in my kitchen. Ingredients for Old-Fashioned Vinegar Pie
3-4 eggs (4 produces firmer set)
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
2 T. apple cider vinegar (ACV)
1/4 t. salt
1 t. vanilla
1 pie shell (pre-baked or unbaked, see video for explanation)
optional: 1/2 t. cinnamon and 1/4 t. nutmeg
Bake in pre-baked shell 425F (400F in convection oven) for 25-30 minutes.
Bake in unbaked shell 425F (400F in convection) for 12 minutes, reduce to 350 (325 convection) 20 minutes. This seems like the same amount of time but this is what worked for me in my oven.
I have read recipes that call for 350F for 45-50 so please use your own judgement according to your oven. Tester should come out clean. Pie **will** rise then fall.
