In this video, I explain how you cannot be the thoughts and emotions. The only thing that prevents you from knowing who you really are in your essence, the only thing that prevents you from knowing your Divine Nature, is the mind. And by mind I mean the thoughts and emotions. It is the thoughts and emotions that act like a veil and hide the Divine Reality that exist within each one of you. The Scriptures give the beautiful example of a lake. They say that the reflection of the moon can't be seen in a lake which is full of ripples and when the lake becomes calm and silent, it gives the perfect reflection of the moon. Similarly, the moon of the Divine Self remains invisible to you because of the ripples of thoughts and emotions in the lake of your mind. The moment these ripples of thoughts and emotions disappear, you then see the perfect reflection of Divine Self in your heart, you then experience yourself as the Divine Self. So the goal of Spiritual Life is to silence these thoughts and emotions and the most powerful way to do so is to see that you are not the thoughts and emotions. It's because you identify with thoughts and emotions that you get overpowered by them, you then feel it's impossible to get rid of them, you then feel it's impossible to stop the incessant chatter of the mind. But, I'm telling you it's absolutely possible, and for this, you first need to recognize that thoughts and emotions are temporary, they come and go, they come, exist for sometime and then disappear. And you are the knower of these thoughts and emotions, you are the witness of these thoughts and emotions who never undergo any change. Thoughts and emotions exist in you, they are like clouds and you are like space. So these clouds of thoughts and emotions appear in your Spaciousness, sky-like consciousness, and you identify with them and feel that you are them. Identification with thoughts and emotions make you forget your Spacious nature. And the only way to go beyond this identification with thoughts and emotions, the only way to break this identification with thoughts and emotions is to just be aware of those thoughts and emotions when they happen within you. You just need to witness them, without putting any labels on them, without judging them, without giving any mental commentary on them. For more, kindly watch my video.
