A Nasty, Mosquito-Borne Illness Is Killing Americans In Biggest Outbreak In Decades A healthy, 64-year old Michigan man died in August from a virus called eastern equine encephalitis.
According to Business Insider, eastern equine encephalitis, or EEE, is spread by mosquitoes.
His family has since said Gregg McChesney went from "perfectly healthy to brain dead" in just over a week.
In the biggest outbreak in decades, at least four others have died of EEE and more than a dozen have been struck ill.
