Jimmy Burrow On Joe's Performance Against Florida & The Atmosphere Of Tiger Stadium

Jimmy Burrow On Joe's Performance Against Florida & The Atmosphere Of Tiger Stadium Coach Jimmy Burrow joins Off the Bench to talk about his first LSU night game experience and the team’s performance.

“I’ve never seen anything like that,” Burrow said. “(The gator at our tailgate) didn’t last long… we had two pans full.”

Burrow gave his thoughts on his son winning SEC Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in six weeks.

“When an individual gets recognized, especially the quarterback, the whole offense is being recognized,” Burrow said. “That was probably the most balanced attack that they have had all year. They did a good job as a staff, too, organizing that game plan.”

Coming into last week, Burrow said that his son felt good about the Florida game.

“He was confident all week,” Burrow said. “He was the most confident that I had ever seen him. Playing man-to-man against the Tigers is a tough chore, and he had a good feeling about that.”

Burrow was also impressed with Dave Aranda’s defensive game plan.

“It’s very difficult to play defense in this day and age,” Burrow said, “and it takes a half to zero in on what you want to do. The staff there did a great job of finding ways to make stops and create pressure.”

Now back in Amory, Mississippi, Burrow says his family’s legacy in the state lives on, even though his son now plays for the neighboring state.

“We had a divided house at one time,” Burrow said. “Everybody in this town is excited… that Joe Burrow has family in Amory.”

Burrow said he feels confident about his son’s aspirations at LSU.

“He told me last spring that they were really going to be good,” Burrow said. “He’s been confident since they started the offseason last year and spring ball… he went to LSU believing he had a chance to win the National Championship. He believes it, and… his teammates believe it.”
