Roland Jaggard (Part 2 of 2) - The Fireside Chat Series

Roland Jaggard (Part 2 of 2) - The Fireside Chat Series Roland Jaggard was one of 16 men who were prosecuted under Operation Spanner, a police investigation into same-sex male consensual sadomasochism across the United Kingdom in the late 1980s. A resulting House of Lords judgement, R v Brown, ruled that consent was not a valid legal defense for actual bodily harm in Britain—but only when it was between two men, as just a short time earlier it was ruled that a man could legally brand his wife.

In this interview, Roland talks about his young childhood in post-war Britain, how he came to discover his interest in SM, and how he was able to find a group of like-minded men to share his interests, which ultimately led to his civil rights journey.
