Why sales managers pressure salespeople or panic in meetings Scott Sylvan Bell What you may see as an unsuccessful sales meeting your manager may see as a successful sales meeting. One of the reasons why sales managers pressure salespeople is they are forced to by some owners or executive managers. One of the reasons why sales meetings suck is the manager may apply their own versions of sales strategies and tactics and then teach them to be used in a sales presentation. You can have a manager create sales sabotage for an entire team or division. If you are looking for the reasons why I hate my sales manager it can come down to they way they treat you in a meeting. You will find most managers are not a sales expert. If you are forced into a bad sales lesson or are taught weak sales skills that can come from higher up than the manager pressuring for more deals closer. You may see that sales managers have it all wrong and they very well may. The actions you see in meetings can come from the panic of having to drag the team to hit their goals or deal with weak salespeople. Some of the pressure comes from the managers belief that the salesperson can learn how to sell more and how to close more sales.
