How to Hydrate and Spread a Butterfly Specimen

In my course, Intro to Life Science Visualization, we hydrate and spread live butterfly specimens so we can observe and draw from the real thing. I wanted to share with you how to take a dry butterfly specimen and how to hydrate and mount it on a spreading board. The mounting board is a DIY board made with foam core board, three layers total, the top two layers have a 1/2 inch gutter for the body.
